PAIN MEDICINE
COALITION
Convened in 2024, the Pain Medicine Coalition was launched by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA Pain Medicine) to advance the common goals of the pain medicine community and to advocate for responsible pain care for all patients. Subsequently, the International Pain and Spine Intervention Society (IPSIS) joined the coalition in 2024 and the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) in 2025.

Member Organizations
The PMC is a coalition of four pain medicine focused organizations – AAPM&R, ASA, ASRA Pain Medicine, and IPSIS. These organizations all serve to advance the common goals of the pain medicine community.
Advocacy
The PMC’s goal is to advocate for responsible pain care for all patients and advance the common goals of pain medicine physicians and patients. The PMC is actively in involved in advocating for policies and standards to ensure that pain care is physician-led, while prioritizing patient access to high quality treatment.
